How long have you been involved with/teaching dance/fitness classes?
A: I began teaching dance when I was only 12 years old. I have been teaching fitness/Pilates since 2005.
Q:
What is Xtend Barre?
A:The Xtend Barre® Workout is a fast-paced, 55-minute full body immersion that fuses dance, Pilates and sculpting exercises at the ballet barre to give you a chiseled body – and fast!
The Xtend Barre system sculpts the body proportionally so that all body parts are equally challenged. This total body workout serves to strengthen, lengthen, and stretch the body from top to bottom, from inside out. The end result is a long and lean physique... without added bulk.
Developed from a dance / Pilates background, the Xtend Barre workout combines the amazing results of dance with the principles of strength and safety in Pilates.
Q: What projects do you have up your sleeve next? Where are you currently teaching?
A: Xtend Barre has experienced some major growth over the last twelve months, with new locations, including internationally and domestic, increased brand awareness through conventions and major press, and soon the launch of our first Xtend Barre DVD. We are also excited for our upcoming continued education conference which will be held in Boca Raton, FL this March. I am not teaching any classes at this time as I am over 8 months pregnant but continue to develop new choreography and education for our program. I look forward to getting back into the game soon!
Q: Besides fitness, what activities do you like to do?
A: I enjoy any activity outdoors. My husband and I love to spend time with our family in northern MI and take many long bike rides along Lake Michigan, it's very scenic and beautiful!
Q: What advice do you have for sticking with fitness related goals?
A: Find something that you enjoy doing. If you don't like to workout at the gym then it will be more difficult to maintain a gym based fitness regimen. Additionally, diversify your workouts. Many people make the mistake of only doing cardio and strength training - it's also essential to incorporate balance, flexibility, and postural exercises into your weekly workouts.
Q: We hear you’re expecting (congrats!) Any tips for future mommies?
A: Thank you! Exercise during pregnancy can certainly be a challenge when your body does not respond as it normally would, but it can also be incredibly rewarding for both you and your soon to be born baby. Xtend Barre has truly helped keep me in shape throughout my pregnancy and allowed me to continue to stretch and move my body which feels great. Be sure to listen to your body and not push yourself too far and of course always be sure to have your doctor clear you for exercise!
Q: What is one food you just can’t say no to?
A: One? That would have to be Orange Juice, although technically a drink and not a "food", this is one part of my day that I can't skip. OJ is my coffee! |
