Exhale: Core Fusion Lean & Toned

A quarter of a million people have transformed their bodies at exhale, the exclusive mind/body spa with locations around the US. Now you can get the same results at home with workouts from Core Fusion creators Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp. Lean & Toned mixes stretching and sculpting moves to lengthen, strengthen, and reshape your physique. Each 10-minute segment focuses on a different part of the body. Soon you’ll have flat abs, firm glutes, chiseled arms, and slender legs. Because these moves increase your heart rate, you’ll burn calories and lose weight as you tone. 50 min. on 1 DVD.

An Acacia production.

"A solid total-body toner"—USA Today
"Delivers results in a short period of time"—Los Angeles Times

A quarter of a million people have transformed their bodies at the exclusive Exhale Spa-now you can get these same results at home.

Named "Best Fusion Class" by New York magazine, this unique program is one of the quickest, most effective ways to get a thin, sleek physique. In five segments of 10 minutes each, the Pilates-based moves deliver washboard abs, perfectly sculpted arms and shoulders, and a tighter, higher backside-fast.

The secret to Core Fusion Pilates Plus is that it works from the inside out, integrating your core with every move. The deep-toning approach goes far beyond the surface muscles, working hard-to-reach areas that traditional exercises can't reach. Infused with yoga-inspired postures and core-conditioning exercises, this invigorating workout produces real results and will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Core Fusion creators Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp have over 50 years' combined experience teaching Pilates, yoga, dance, and Tai Chi, disciplines that inform the Pilates Plus workout. They are founding team members of Exhale, a leading mind/body spa with locations around the country.

Q & A with the Instructors

What is Exhale: Core Fusion? How is it different from other toning methods?

Exhale Core Fusion is a transformational toning program, fusing the disciplines of core conditioning, Lotte Berk Method fundamentals, Pilates, interval cardio training, yoga, and 50 years of combined fitness expertise of the co creators Elisabeth Halfpapp and Fred DeVito, to achieve a strong, athletic, flexible, and youthful body. It is fueled by upbeat and inspirational music rhythms. Allowing you to work from the inside out, this program consistently delivers results, including washboard abs, tighter and higher backside, long, lean functional muscles.

It is different from other toning methods because we strongly emphasize breathing, position, alignment, and then turn your focus to the number of repetitions. Also, you are using your body as its own resistance without heavy weights so you will not add bulk to your muscles. We strengthen a muscular group and then we stretch them immediately after.

We have created a variety of programming based on the original Core Fusion class. These classes are Core Fusion Yoga, Core Fusion Sport, Core Fusion Cardio, and soon to be a new class Core Fusion Boot Camp.

How long have you both been teaching?

Elisabeth has been teaching this method for over 30 years and Fred over 25 years. We both were the teachers trainers, helped to refine, managed, and taught at the Lotte Berk Method for 22 years. In the industry, we are looked at as the teacher of the teachers in this barre/core fitness genre!

Prior to that, Elisabeth was a ballet teacher and Fred taught PHYs ED in the public school systems.

What is the one body part that everyone complains about and wants to work on?

For women: thighs and gluteals

For men: abdominals

What’s your favorite exercise move you created?

Elisabeth loves any of the thigh exercises…because these exercises develop long lean legs and gets muscle in the largest most dense muscular group of the body, so then more lean muscle density creates heightened metabolic rate which means burning calories all day! Also reminds me of my ballet days.

Fred loves the abdominal curl!

What projects do you have up your sleeve next? Where are you currently teaching?

Opening up 2 more exhale studio locations this year and releasing 2 more DVDs…Core Fusion Cardio and Core Fusion Power Sculpt! We currently have 18 locations across the country. Primarily, we teach at our NYC locations, but travel regularly to all our locations. Recently we were in Chicago, Dallas, Boston, and Santa Monica debuting our new class Core Fusion Boot Camp (which coincides with the Core Fusion Boot Camp DVD release). We are also expanding our exhale Core Fusion Retreat program..heading to exhale Palm Beach next week to present a Core Fusion Boot Camp Retreat, plus doing these retreats in Miami, first retreat in the Hamptons end of June, and a Sept exhale Turks + Caicos Core Fusion/Paddle Board Retreat!

What has been one of your favorite/funniest/fond memories of being an instructor?

Seeing students change their lives not only physically, but becoming independent and able to be do things for themselves at any age.

Teaching generations of our guests…having the mother in class before she is married, get married, have their first child, maybe second or third, and now these children are in college and coming to class with their mother and/or father.

Teaching a NY Knick basketball player who had a back injury and gave him 2 more years playing professionally.

Being a little nervous, asking a well known male celebrity his name, even though I knew who he was.

Seeing bodies change!

A well known actress on her way to the Golden Globes in her car, emailing me to ask what she could do fast for her triceps!

What advice do you have for sticking with fitness related goals?

Make it a habit and schedule the time, even if it is only 10 minutes a day. Always think how much better you will feel AFTER you complete your fitness regime both mentally and physically.

Everything in moderation! Once you see change happen, you WANT to continue!

Besides fitness, what activities do you like to do?

Elisabeth: ballet classes (maybe that is considered fitness, but love the aesthetic, and it is in my bones from my professional ballet days), scuba diving, cross country skiing, hiking, swimming, walking whenever I can, watching old classic movies, and reading! Most importantly, spend time with close friends and family…every time I visit LA, I visit my best friend in San Diego.

Fred likes to play jazz on his upright, acoustic bass, swimming and summers in his organic vegetable garden as well as a lot of reading and writing.

What is one food you just can’t say no to?

Elisabeth: quinoa cookies or any cookie that is crunchy and has nuts w/o any artificial ingredients

Fred: Chicken Milanese
