MAX CHEN IS ONE OF THE TOP FULL-CONTACT Lei Tai San Shou competitors in the country. Since entering the full-contact arena in 1995, Max has won 20 gold medals and 5 silver medals. He was a member of the U.S.A. Wushu-Kungfu Federation San Shou team for three consecutive terms in 2001, 2003, and 2005.
Max began his martial arts training at age 4 with his uncle, Master Howard Lee, who taught him praying mantis and knife form Kung Fu. At age 11, he started studying Tai Chi Chuan under the guidance of his father, Grandmaster William C.C. Chen. In addition to his San Shou accomplishments, Max has won 12 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals in Tui Shou (Push Hands) since 1995.
Max has been a teaching assistant to Grandmaster Chen since 1997, teaching Tai Chi Chuan and San Shou in New York City. He also teaches San Shou training and conditioning classes/workshops elsewhere in the United States and in Europe.
